PANEL DISCUSSION: Marketing and Money: Linking New Products, Services and ROI
Moderator: John Bretz
Panelists: Aaron Lott; Aimee Kuhlman; Carisa McGehee, 340B Director, Saint Alphonsus Health System; and, Scott Milner, Director of Purchasing, St. Luke’s Health System
When developing new products and services, healthcare professionals must have a comprehensive understanding of their customers – their needs, values and communication preferences. Accordingly, a well thought out marketing strategy must continuously measure effectiveness and make appropriate adjustments.
The two areas of focus for the panel discussion are:
1. strategic communications considerations in “telling your 340B story”; and,
2. specific hospital initiatives that provide good candidates to tell your story — those that provide value for vulnerable populations and also provide opportunity for ROI if possible.
Safety net providers struggle to stretch scarce resources to provide crucial services to their patients while meeting their bottom line. It does not have to be this way. When managed compliantly, the 340B program does what it was intended to do: secure the financial future of safety net organizations who serve the nation’s vulnerable population.
The 340B program can have a significantly positive impact for providers, their patients, and their communities if providers know how to administer and manage the program effectively.
The subject matter experts for this workshop will be presenting insights for safety net providers to tap into the benefits of the 340B program, including increasing financial support that enables providers to provide better care, improve patient outcomes, and help the indigent/uninsured gain access to the discounted medications they need.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Outline major regulatory and legislative developments in 340B;
- Identify opportunities to expand the 340B program in a compliant manner;
- Learn best practices in telling your organization’s 340B story; and,
- Identify the tools to successfully build awareness and influence key leaders on the significance of the 340B program to your organization.
